For over 30 years, singer and songwriter Susan Osborn has held the high ground of vocal artistry. Her startlingly remarkable voice -- powerful and rich with emotional expression -- came to world prominence when she was lead singer of the Paul Winter Consort between 1978 and 1985, shining on such albums as "Common Ground", "Missa Gaia." and "Concert For the Earth".

Mickey Hart is best known for his nearly three decades as an integral part of an extraordinary expedition into the soul and spirit of music, disguised as the rock and roll band the Grateful Dead. As half of the percussion tandem known as the Rhythm Devils, Mickey and Bill Kreutzmann transcended the conventions of rock drumming. Their extended polyrhythmic excursions were highlights of Grateful Dead shows, introducing the band's audience to an ever-growing arsenal of percussion instruments from around the world. Exposure to these exotic sounds fueled Mickey's desire to learn about the various cultures that produced them.

Karlton E. Hester, Ph.D. (composer/flutist/saxophonist), began his career as a composer and recording artist in Los Angeles where he worked as a studio musician and music educator. He received his Ph.D. in composition from the City University of New York Graduate Center and is currently Director of "Jazz" Studies at the University of California in Santa Cruz. Hester specializes in premeditated, spontaneous and electro-acoustic composition.

Music for People is dedicated to re-vitalizing your music-making and promoting music as a means of self-expression. We offer music improvisation workshops throughout the year, as well as a four-year program called the Musicianship and Leadership Program (MLP) of which there are 83 graduates (Certified Facilitators). We operate through dedicated persons paying yearly membership and generous persons who make tax deductible donations.

ISIM promotes performance, education, and research in improvised music, and illuminates connections between musical improvisation and creativity across fields.

Award-winning saxophonist, bandleader, composer, explorer of the world's musical traditions and founder of Living Music and the Paul Winter Consort, Paul Winter has been motivated for the past thirty years by the vision of a musical-ecological community, and has followed a steady course towards his unique 'Earth Music', a vital celebration of the creatures and cultures of the whole earth.

In September, 1999, Amrita Cottrell gave birth to this beautiful organization just after healing from her miraculous healing from breast cancer. The Healing Music Organization was born out of her love for music, and the excitement over the incredible healing she experienced in combining sound and intention.
